List Of 10 Ways To Save £1 A Day

While on the surface this list may not seem very interesting , why not check out the practical ways that YOU can save £1 a day each day of the year, and save yourself £70 a week, £300 a month and £3,650 a year!

Here are some of the easier ways to save money :-

1. Do Not Buy Newspapers – Use The Internet
Rather than buying your daily news paper why not keep up to date with the news online – you are probably online every day and there will be no extra cost to your broadband service if you stay on for a while longer checking the news.

2. Make Your Own Lunch
There are millions of us around the world who have the best intentions of making our own sandwiches each day to save ourselves a few pounds. How many of us actually do it? Or are you one of the millions who buy sandwiches at the shop?

3. Drink Water Rather Than Fizzy Juice
As the cost of food spirals higher we have also seen the cost of fizzy juice spiral higher with many companies making money from their employees by installing vending machines. Water is far better for you than the Fizzy Juices which can rot your teeth and are often full of a range of additives.

4. Switch Off Unused Electrical Appliances
You would be surprised how much money you will save just by switching off electrical appliances when not in use. Mobile phone chargers are the worst offenders as you are still being charged if the charger is switched on but no phone is connected.

5. Car Share
This is a phenomenon which is often mentioned but very few people actually follow through with. Why not chat with your work colleagues, see who lives local to each other and work out a rota – not only do you save money on travel but you might also get a less stressful journey to work if you are not driving!

6. Insulation
Do you really know how much heat you lose through the roof of your home? A simple course of insulation in the roof of your home will help to retain heat within the home and cut back on your heating bills.

7. Reduce Your Heating Thermostat
Simply by reducing the level at which your heating thermostat is set has the potential to save you hundreds of pounds a year. A one degree change in the setting will not even register to those in the home, but it will on your heating bill!

8. Car Insurance
While we have headlined this post “10 Ways To Save £1 A Day” there are actually many greater savings which you can make in the long run. By simply reducing the power of your car, adding an alarm, buying online (and claiming the discounts on offer) or signing up to a reduced mileage insurance policy can save you hundreds of pounds a year. It is true!

9. Recycling
While recycling has very much been the buzz word for many years, how many of us have actually made money out of it? We hear about the free services allowing us to do our bit for society, but there are many companies that will pay you to recycle your goods. Mobile phones are a great option with some companies offering up to £150 for your “old” phone.

10. Evening Phone Calls
Where possible you should make your telephone calls in the evening when the rate is much cheaper than daytime. While there are many offers of cheap calls on the market you need to balance up whether it is worthwhile paying a monthly fee or just reverting to the cheaper evening rate.

Even though the above ideas about saving £1 each day of the year may sound a little tedious, remember if you are able to implement all of the idea that would be £10 a day, £70 a week, £300 a month and £3,650 a year – that is when it all starts to add up!
